When observing an opponent, the adept may spend 2 Strain and make a Tactics test against the step of the offensive talent the opponent is currently using. A success on this test means the adept has gained special insight into the manner in which the opponent uses the target Talent allowing the adept to better use his own talents. This advantage lasts for as long as the target Talent remains at the same step, and the adept may only have as many such advantages as she has Ranks in Tactics. In any round where the target opponent is using the target Talent, the adept may spend another 1 Strain to divide a bonus equal to her Tactics Rank across any Talents which interact with the opponent (eg., Anticipate Blow, Riposte, Disarm, Avoid Blow, Pin, etc.) or to apply penalties to the opponent's target Talent if it is used against her. If the adept gained an Extraordinary Success on the Analyze Style test, she may instead choose to add one Success Level (or subtract one Success Level from the opponent) to a test in the round for each Success Level beyond Excellent. No more than one such bonus Success Level may be applied to any single test, even if multiple talents are involved.
