Multi-Discipline Thread Weaving and Karma Ritual

Thread Weaving and Karma Ritual are core elements of any adept. Upon deciding to follow an additional Discipline, and adept does not gain new versions of these talents but must find their own version of the combined talents.

To this effect, the multidiscipline adept must learn a new Karma Ritual Talent. This Ritual should demonstrate and focus the multidiscipline nature of the adept, and is generally treated similarly to gaining a talent already held via Versatility. Once the new Karma Ritual talent has reached a rank equal to the old Karma Ritual talent, the old talent is considered replaced by the new one. Each use of the old Karma Ritual talent (prior to it's being replaced) results in only half the normal Karma gain and doubles the legend point cost of the next rank in the multidiscipline Karma Ritual. The new talent may be used normally. (Note that the adept may not attempt more than one Karma Ritual per day regardless.)

Likewise, Thread Weaving must be similarly expanded to account for the new discipline magic and changes in the adept's pattern. When the adept is ready to learn the Thread Weaving for the new discipline (ie has reached 4th circle), she again gains a new talent which must be raised to replace the old Thread Weaving talent. Once the adept has begun the path of a new discipline, her old Thread Weaving talent no longer applies. Threads and knacks are not lost, but only the new Thread Weaving talent may be used, evenpriorto gaining the new Thread Weaving. (Exception: temporary threads may still be tied using the old Thread Weavingat half rank.)

An adept's magic and sense of self have not stabilized sufficiently to learn an additional discipline until all current talents are properly joined, unless the Game Master deems it appropriate to waive this restriction, which should be a rare case indeed even for multidiscipline adepts.

The player should try to describe the new Karma Ritual that the character uses, to better mesh the conceptions of the separate disciplines.

Versatility may not be used to broaden the adept's talents similar to the above, nor may it be used to gain separate Karma Ritual or Thread Weaving abilities. This is a note for the players and Game Master. Adepts would know that only their own Karma Ritual or Thread Weaving will be of use.
